Beaches are always special but the ones in Spain are a tad bit special. They are adorned with white sands and blue, clear waters and are perfect for water activities. They look stunning and some of these beaches are just a photographer’s paradise, to say the least. Here are 9 splendid beaches you shouldn’t miss –

Es Trenc, Mallorca

If you visit this place in November you can see that the entire seaweed has been cleared out. It offers a spectacular view right then. It is an idyllic beach and unlike the other beaches of Spain, it doesn’t remain much crowded, anytime so you can enjoy a splendid afternoon. Walking from one end of the beach to another takes a good 30 minutes – that along with the view of the beach will stun you. Money-wise this beach is quite pocket-friendly – you have to pay 7 Euros to park your car here all day.

Benicassim, Costa Azahar

Benicassim is a beach resort and also a municipality. This place looks stunning when viewed from the top – the pictures will completely leave you astounded. The water here is turquoise blue and is as clean as the other beaches in Spain. The economy of this place is largely tourism-based so you will find tourists here all throughout the year apparently. The Rototom Sunsplash is a music festival which it is very famous for. If you visit here during the music festivals, the place has a different vibe altogether. It is mostly for the youth but you have to be only young at heart to fit in the crowd.

Langre, Cantabria

This beach has been highly rated for traveling both solo and with friends and family. It is split into two parts – the left part is smaller and easier to access. It is also better for surfing if you are interested in such kind of activities. On the right side of the beach, you have to go for the Seamless suntan; here you will find the lifeguards present. However, if you want to go nude on the beach then you have to go to the far (right) end of the beach where the lifeguards are generally absent. The beach has a shallow slope and is not ideal for the weak swimmers during high tide. However it is good for kids. But you must be careful with the timings.

Playa de Ses Illetes, Formentera, Balearic Islands

This is yet another beach with pristine, clear water. The best time to visit this place is April when the climate is windy and slightly cool. It is definitely one of those beaches which are better during the summers. You can either take an Aqua bus to this place or take a scooter – the visitors are recommended scooters as theyare much more fun. Taxi is expensive, but you can hire a cycle – it is fun to ride to this place. There are rocky parts on this beach but there are also many high areas which give a spectacular view.

Playa de Bolonia, Tarifa, Spain

You have to climb a dune to view this place, but trust me, it will be worth it. At times it can get very windy to swim, but it is an ideal spot for family tourists. There is also a Roman Archeological site nearby which you must see. The sand here is soft and clean, and the view is merry. It is the perfect holiday spot to visit with your entire family.

Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp, Germany

Humboldthain Flak Tower, Germany

Humboldthain Flak Tower was built in Berlin by the order of Adolf Hitler. This is a seven storey bunker that was intended to save Berlin from any kind of aerial attacks. In 1940, six more towers like this was ordered to be built by Hitler. But during the Second World War, all the other towers were completely destroyed making the Humboldthain the only tower to exist with severe damages. Now it is one the major attractions in the city of Berlin. Only two floors are open to the people; children below 14 are not allowed and under-18 tourists must have adults with them. Tourists are advised to wear comfortable and warm clothes and shoes as it is very cold and steep inside even in summer.

Vel D’Hiv Monument, France

In the year 1942, about 13,000 Jews including 4,000 children were kept here by the police before moving them to the concentration camp in Drancy. They were kept in a very crowded way without water and food during the World War II. This event of mass arrest holds high importance in history and thus this place is famous for playing host to a major part of it. There are many kind of sports such as boxing, wrestling, skating, bicycling that took place in Vel D’Hiver. Some of the most trendy sports competition used to be held here, however now tourists just come here to observe the depressing history of the Jewish prisoners here.

Umschlagplatz, Warsaw, Poland

This is one of the most memorable monuments of Warsaw. There used be a railway terminus from which the Jews were transported to Treblinka by the German military. The rectangular monuments have marbles that have about 3000 forenames of Jews engraved on them; and has a message written on them – “Along this path of suffering and death, over 300,000 Jews were driven in 1942–43 from the Warsaw Ghetto to the gas chambers of the Nazi extermination camps”. “Umschlagplatz” were used by the Nazis as a holding point. The Wolf’s Lair, Poland

The Wolf’s Lair was Adolf Hitler’s headquarters. He spent about 800 days here, which is half of the duration of World War II. He made many plans of concentration camps and death camps here. Fuhrerbunker, Berlin

This was the last bunker of Hitler that was built in Berlin. This is the place where Hitler and his wife Eva committed suicide shortly after they got married in the year 1945. This place has only a few portions available to the public, while most of the other parts are restricted for public access. Cabinet War Rooms, England

There are many events and history that is hidden beneath the street of Westminster of England. The underground bunker was Churchill’s Cabinet war rooms where he stayed and made plans and then executed them elsewhere. There are rooms left as it were for so many years. Even the map rooms are untouched since 1945, and everything is kept just like it was in the year 1945. Musee de la Reddition, France

This place is called the “Museum of the Surrender”. In May 7th of the year 1945 three very high ranking German officials surrendered in this place during the ending of World War II. Casa Mila is the most famous work by eminent artist Antonio Gaudi who finished it before dedicating himself to the Sagrada Familia. This is also known as “La Pedrera”. This modernist building itself consists of two houses connected with the help of a facade. As Gaudi’s works are very expressive, the front house has natural curves and waves while the second one is of another kind. The sharp contrast and design are certain to leave the tourists spellbound while the interior is very dreamy and beautiful. Generalife, Granada

The Palacio de Generalife was built in the 13th century and then redecorated again, with an ambience that is very peaceful and calm. It is said that the place was used by kings to rest when they were very tired and wanted a soothing ambience to lessen worries. There are decorative motifs present that are very fine and elite by nature complimented with artworks that are beautiful. There are various small gardens in Generalife that can make you feel like you’re in paradise. The place also plays host to a few festivals and events. Altogether it has an ecstatic ambience that will sooth all your senses making you feel as if you are in a fairy-tale.
